Penang International Yosakoi Awards 2025

 

Held for the first time, the Penang International Yosakoi Awards will be the cornerstone of the 10th Edition of the Penang Yosakoi Parade. 

 

There is currently NO such awards being given out by any organisation WORLDWIDE, not even Japan!  This award will thus be the first in the world and will be much like the OSCARS of Yosakoi. 

 

The purpose of this award is:

• to celebrate the Yosakoi spirit world-wide

• to appreciate the opportunity for cultural exchange and

• to recognise the contribution of the participating teams to the development of Yosakoi at an international level.

 

All participating Foreign teams are automatically included in the award, as will some select Malaysian teams.  

 

Participation is Free of Charge, but teams must bear all their own participation expenses.. 

 

Criteria: Teams will perform both the stage and parade version ONCE during the event (total twice).  Teams will be also be invited to participate at the annual, record-breaking Penang Yozakura Sou-Odori. 

 

Awards are given by the Penang State Government and will include: 

 

• Certificate of Participation for all teams and 

• Awards, Trophies or Medals for outstanding teams
